Completed in the fall of 2012, designed for single level living. The retired clients hired Spring Creek Builders to design and build a home which would accommodate their lifestyle today with an eye towards the golden years ahead. The building site would easily accept a walkout design, however we had to eliminate stair climbing for daily activities. We accomplished the goal of keeping the kitchen, dining, living and master bedroom on the upper level along with garage access, by rotating the main building line perpendicular to the hill to allow for a driveway to gain the elevation necessary to enter the garage on the upper level. The guest bedrooms along with a bonus garage/shop are located on the lower level with access from a lower driveway. The result was a simple layout that the new homeowners describe as “very easy to live in”. By listening to the homeowners needs we were able to create a truly custom home, designed specifically for their lifestyle. The icing on the cake was that by keeping the overall design simple we could incorporate upgrades in finishes and efficiency components while keeping the budget in check. The high end finishes in this home include, granite tops, hydronic heat, solid light maple floors, solid wood doors and trim, an awesome walnut slab raised bar, stainless steel appliances, and a custom maple staircase with walnut accents. Some of the energy efficient components and sustainable practices we employed include: expanding foam insulation, high efficiency boiler, photo voltaic system, aluminum clad wood windows, low maintenance stucco with an addition 1″ foam for added r-value and thermal break.
It is extremely rewarding to work with homeowners to help them realize their dreams and get positive feedback, knowing they will enjoy the home built specifically for them for years to come.
