This bonus room transformation was a blank slate when we started. The homeowners wanted an entertainment area with an indoor outdoor fireplace, new bathroom and complete bar. Our first challenge was to bring a huge room down to personal scale. Adding a series of false beams under the scissor trussed roof helped to lower the perceived height as well as allowed us to incorporate ceiling fans and low voltage track lighting. We  glued up 22′ long douglas fir planks which were left hollow on top for lighting and electric wires and to keep the weight low enough to hang from the existing trusses. The end product speaks for itself and has proven to be everything the homeowners wanted.
